One of the fondest memories of my childhood was the excitement I felt before playing hockey. It would start when I gathered my gear at home and build in the car. By the time we got to the pond, I would rush to put on my skates – so much so, I often had to re-tie them after a few minutes. I was a better skater than a hockey player, but it didn’t matter. I couldn’t wait to get on the ice and loved to play. I consider myself fortunate to be able to experience the same exhilaration about sports as an adult. I’d like to think I prepare a little more maturely than I did as a kid, but I still get a rush as I approach a court, field, tee, or track. Being active and enjoying healthy competition in a variety of sports keeps me sane, balanced, and happy. For me, the excitement still starts while dressing for action. I care about what I wear. It needs to be comfortable, fit well, and stand up in the heat of battle. If the clothes reflect today’s campaign, all the better. It fires me up.
